CoDesign Conversations: Centering Human Experience in Healthcare
Join us on May 28 for our LinkedIn Live conversation series exploring the dynamic intersection of public and private sector innovation.
The U.S. healthcare system exists to extend our lives and health, but it ranks 17th in outcomes, while operating the most expensive system in the world. For many, their health experiences are defined by prohibitively high costs, complexity in navigating the system, and a profound lack of trust. How do we pivot from a system that serves its own metrics to one that centers on what the people it serves most need and want? A re-orientation towards human dignity starts with listening, co-creating, and measuring success through the eyes of the patient.
Join us for Episode 10 of CoDesign Conversations. Moderated by Amy Heymans, CEO of Beneficent, the discussion will bring together esteemed professionals who have spent their careers centering the human experience in healthcare. Guest speakers include:
- Betsy Ramaccia is a design researcher, strategist, and facilitator with nearly 20 years of experience in social sector design. In her role as Senior Director of Design Research at Coforma, she led a participatory research process intended to inform the US federal government’s response to Long Covid. Previously, she led human-centered design initiatives across a range of topics, including developing tools for healthcare teams to support and empower patients during a cancer diagnosis. Through her work, Betsy strives to push the limits of the design process so that it can be a force for creating more equitable systems, inclusive communities, and empathetic leaders.
- Dr. Geetha Govindarajan, MD, PhD, MPH, is a physician-scientist and innovator at a large community health center on the south side of Chicago, trained in internal medicine, integrative medicine, and public health, with a special interest in cardiovascular health. A passionate advocate for underserved communities, she has volunteered locally and globally, co-designing and co-creating care that centers the whole person. She is grateful to share her perspectives on today’s panel.
