About Us
Welcome to CoDesign Collaborative! We are a participatory organization that aims to build community with creative problem-solvers in the service of designing for social impact. You may know our nonprofit as Design Museum Everywhere. In Fall 2024, we became CoDesign Collaborative to reflect the collective spirit of our mission.
MISSION
Our mission is to inspire social change through the transformative power of design.
VISION
Our vision is to help more people design for good. We believe the most powerful solutions emerge through diverse perspectives, partnership, dialogue, and shared responsibility.
COMMUNITY
Our community represents a national cohort of creatives who share our mission and vision. We work to build community and provide learning, resources, tools, and best practices for centering social impact in design.
Our Work
We pursue our mission through Events and Programs, Publications, Resource Sharing, and Education Initiatives.

Publications
Our Publications platform design impact in action.
UNFOLD
We produce a biannual publication (formerly Design Museum Magazine) that platforms design impact. Each issue features a guest editor and explores a critical topic, with contributions from our community and beyond!
BESPOKE BODIES: THE DESIGN & CRAFT OF PROSTHETICS
A 200-page publication featuring the past, present, and future of prosthetic design and impact, including: a 500-year history of prosthetics, stories of design changing the lives of people with limb-loss, and seven guest thought leadership essays spanning global impact, athletic performance, bionics, and more. The book is an accompanying resource to CoDesign Collaborative’s exhibition of the same name.
DESIGN & PLAY
Inspired by our Extraordinary Playscapes exhibition that has travelled to six locations across the U.S., Design & Play shares inspirational play spaces, historical context, and stories behind what makes these playscapes so extraordinary. Parents, educators, designers/design enthusiasts, and kids-at-heart will discover what’s possible when play and design come together.
Resource Sharing
DESIGN JOB BOARD
We ARE partnered with Coroflot to share a job board curated to help creative professionals and hiring companies find each other! Coroflot’s job board is the largest and most active site specifically targeted for the hiring needs of companies that range from local operations to multi-national industry leaders.
Education Initiatives
CODESIGN STUDENT CHALLENGE
This annual summer program that provides teens with hands-on design education in partnership with leading brands, industry professionals, and clients. The students are compensated for their time in line with CoDesign Collaborative’s commitment to equity. Design Educators lead students through a two-part workshop, prototyping concepts and realizing innovative designs. The curriculum draws inspiration from corporate partner products, engages creative teams, and can culminate in a limited production of the students’ designs, providing an opportunity to realize a fabricated portfolio piece!
FREE STUDENT MEMBERSHIP
In 2025, CoDesign Collaborative launched the FREE Student Membership program for students ages 13+ to engage future designers during their time of study at no cost. FREE Student Membership provides students access to programming and a digital subscription to Unfold. We have an active and growing community of Student Members from Boston, Portland, Grand Rapids, London, and beyond. Help us to foster engagement by sharing this program with students you know!
THE CURRENT
In spring 2025, we launched The Current—virtual, student-led lightning talks that highlight vital topics in design. Through these student-curated conversations, we met the emerging voices shaping the future of design and the creative leaders at the forefront of design impact. Topics from the pilot season included intergenerational community design, inclusive fashion, design facilitation and community practices, and sustainability. This program is made possible through collaboration with Jennifer Rittner, who serves on the Council and is the Assistant Professor of Strategic Design and Management and Assistant Dean of Curriculum + Learning for Parsons School of Design.
Card to Culture
We believe that design should be accessible for all! In order to provide arts and cultural opportunities to those generally excluded by cost, we’re proud to partner with the Mass Cultural Council, in collaboration with the Department of Transitional Assistance, the Women, Infants & Children (WIC) Nutrition Program, and the Massachusetts Health Connector, to offer the Card to Culture program. We offer FREE registration (a 100% discount) to people with EBT, WIC, and ConnectorCare Cards for our virtual and in-person programming. View upcoming events.
