Join Montserrat College of Art and CoDesign Collaborative on Thursday, November 18, 5:30-7:00 pm ET for an interactive virtual apparel workshop with Fashion Designer Bless and Creative Director/Fiber Artist Noèl Puèllo.
The program will begin with short talks by each designer after which participants will be able to choose a designer to follow into a breakout session. Each room will involve an activity that highlights each designer’s creative practice and how they employ design thinking and creative problem solving. All are welcome to attend; no design experience is necessary.
This event is the closing program for our current exhibition, We Design: People. Practice. Progress, at Montserrat Gallery of Art. We Design brings together creatives from a wide range of backgrounds to examine and celebrate the range of career paths, applications, and impact in design. The collaborative, evolving traveling exhibition features career stories showcasing how people have forged their unique paths into different creative professions; from graffiti artists and architects to civic designers and strategic planners, We Design emphasizes the need for more racial and gender diversity in design and innovation fields and highlights the importance of equity and inclusion in terms of generating ideas. Bless
He/him/his
Some minds are so exceptional they change the world, how this comes about is unclear. However, what is clear is the creative genius that humbly dwells in the artist, self-taught fashion designer and advocate for change simply known as Bless. It is the contradictions of his humble upbringing in the rural outskirts of Zimbabwe, that spark the narrative of the very fabric of his enigmatic creations in the luxury fashion worlds of New York City, Los Angeles & Boston. Outwardly exists a seemingly effortless transition for the man listed as the most stylish by The Boston Globe, but inwardly dwells an imperial battle of a native culture at war against the superfluous western fashion world. It is this juxtaposition that sparks his quest for minimalistic, harmonious beauty, which then gives birth to his exquisite Street Wear, Ready To Wear and eponymous fashion brand Bless By Bless. A limited-edition fashion brand consisting of timeless, cutting-edge wardrobe essentials. A hybrid of fashion and philanthropy, Bless by Bless is also a non-profit called The Army of Luv, a movement for social change; a tribe where the humanitarian in us all unites for one cause, Love.

Raised in Providence, Rhode Island, Noèl Puèllo received a B.F.A. degree in 3D Fibers Arts from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design. She went to Philadelphia, PA to study at the Tyler School of Art where she received an M.F.A. degree in Fiber and Materials Studies in 2019 Noèl Puèllo is now a Mexico City-based artist who is interested in shifting perceptions of intimacy and revitalizing a sense of fantasy through the dissection of queer and Afro-Latinx identity through clothing construction, mixed media installations, fiber practices, and video. Her work centers the power of physical touch and moves us through a romanticized reality of the discarded. She poeticizes the relationships of her Dominican elders and her own personal stories of existing as a queer, fat, femme, racially ambiguous, trans person.
